Ann Hallenberg, The Mozartists and their founder and Artistic Director Ian Page have won the Voice & Ensemble Award at the 2026 Gramophone Awards for their recording of Gluck arias, released on Signum Classics.
The accolade is the latest major recognition for The Mozartists’ distinctive exploration of the music of Mozart and his contemporaries, with Gluck Arias having already won Best Solo Recital at the 2025 International Opera Awards.
Conceived and conducted by Ian Page, and released on Signum Classics on 26 September 2025, this album was the first recording collaboration between Ann Hallenberg and Ian Page, following performances together in the concert hall and opera house.
The backbone of the programme, which explores the extraordinary range and dramatic power of Christoph Willibald Gluck’s operatic writing, is formed by three arias from Il trionfo di Clelia (Bologna, 1763) – written for castrato Giovanni Manzuoli (1720-1782) – and the disc also includes previously unrecorded arias from Ipermestra (Venice, 1744) and Le nozze d’Ercole e d’Ebe (Dresden, 1747). Also featured is Gluck’s revised version of the exquisite “Che puro ciel” from Orfeo ed Euridice (adapted for Parma in 1769), and the popular “O del mio dolce ardor” from the last of the composer’s three so-called ‘reform’ operas, Paride ed Elena.
Ian Page’s previous Gluck recording with The Mozartists (‘Blessed Spirit – a Gluck retrospective’) was selected by Gramophone magazine among the top 10 Gluck recordings of all time.
