Emily Edmonds was a Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House from 2015 to 2017, where her roles included Madrigal Singer (Manon Lescaut), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Tebaldo (Don Carlos), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Magdalena (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Emilia (Otello), Kätchen (Werther) and Agathe/Dargelos (Les Enfants Terribles) with the Royal Ballet. She holds a first-class honours degree in Vocal Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, trained on the Young Artists Programme at Pacific Opera Company, and was the Dame Nellie Melba Scholar for the Melba Opera Trust. She also took part in the world première of Venables’s 4.48 Psychosis in London. She is an Associate Artist with The Mozartists (then Classical Opera), where she performed the role of Dorabella in the 2019 production of Così fan tutte. Recent engagements have included Katya (in Venables’s Denis and Katya) for Opera Philadelphia, Varvara (Katya Kabanova) for the Royal Opera and for the revival of the same Richard Jones production at Rome Opera in 2020, the title role in L’enfant et les sortilèges for Komische Oper Berlin, and Semira (Hasse’s Artaserse) for Pinchgut Opera.
