Alexander Semple (baritone) studies at the Royal College of Music under Russell Smythe. He is a Drake Calleja Scholar and a James Bowman Young Artist (Vache Baroque), and is supported by the Linbury Scholarship, the Josephine Baker Trust and the Choir Association of St John’s College, Cambridge. His repertoire includes Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Harašte (The Cunning Little Vixen), Ferryman (Curlew River), Tarquinius (The Rape of Lucretia), It (Cupboard Love), Mephistopheles (Faust et Hélène), Alidoro (La cenerentola), with highlights from Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Superintendent Budd (Albert Herring), Sulpice (La fille du régiment) and Mr Koffner (The Consul). Recent performances have included Carmina Burana alongside the BBC National Chorus of Wales and the première of Joubert’s Jane Eyre for Green Opera. This is his début with The Mozartists, and his future roles include Nardo (La finta giardinieraI) for the RCM in March.

His début with The Mozartists will be on 27 January 2026, singing three arias from Haydn’s Die Feuersbrunst. His repertoire includes Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Harašte (The Cunning Little Vixen), Ferryman (Curlew River), Tarquinius (Rape of Lucretia), It (Cupboard Love), Mephistopheles (Faust et Hélène), Alidoro (La Cenerentola), with highlights from Don Alfonso (Così fan Tutte), Superintendent Bud (Albert Herring), Sulpice (La Fille du Régiment) and Mr Koffner (The Consul). Recent performances include singing as a soloist alongside the BBC National Chorus of Wales for Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and in the première of Joubert’s Jane Eyre for Green Opera. He will star as Roberto (Nardo) in La Finta Giardiniera for the Royal College of Music this Spring.
