Mozart, Haydn & The ‘English’ Bach
7 October 2023 – Stamford Arts Centre, Ballroom
We are delighted to have been invited to launch the 2023/24 classical music season at the historic ballroom in Stamford Arts Centre, Lincolnshire. The programme opens with Mozart’s remarkable first symphony, written in London when the composer was eight years old, and it also contains two of the most attractive of Haydn’s early symphonies.
Harpsichordist Steven Devine is the soloist in concertos by Mozart and Johann Christian Bach, the second of which features a delightful set of variations on ‘God Save the King’, and the concert concludes with the fiery ‘Sturm und Drang’ drama of J. C. Bach’s G minor symphony.
We would like to thank Continuo Foundation for their help in bringing this project to fruition.
