British Bass Jamie Woollard is a current Jette Parker Artist at the Royal Opera House. In the 2023/24 season he will play Zuniga in Carmen, Count Ceprano in Rigoletto, Dumas in Andrea Chénier, and Sciarrone in Tosca. During the season he will also be covering Zebul in Handel’s Jephtha, having previously covered the roles of Segeste and Tullio in Arminio for the Royal Opera House
In Summer 2023 Jamie was a Jerwood Young Artist for Glyndebourne Opera Festival, where he covered Snug in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and played Thierry in Poulenc’s Dialogues des carmélites. Recent concert highlights include Mozart’s Requiem at St Martin’s in the Fields, the premiere of Barlow’s Requiem with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and Handel’s Messiah with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in December 2023.
A recent graduate of the Royal College of Music Opera Studio, Jamie was taught by Graeme Broadbent and whilst studying performed the roles Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Jupiter in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, the Immigration Officer in Dove’s Flight, and Il Re in Respighi’s La bella dormente nel bosco. Jamie is a Samling Artist, a BBC Music Magazine ‘Rising Star’, and was the Stephen Catto Memorial Scholar at the RCM, supported by the Fishmongers’ Company Scholarship.
