Darren Jeffery first sang with The Mozartists (then Classical Opera) in 2004 at the Barbican, and has since collaborated with the company on several projects. His most recent engagements with the company have included Handel’s Messiah at Middle Temple Hall in 2015, a concert performance of La clemenza di Tito at Cadogan Hall in 2014, and Mozart’s Requiem at the Barbican, also in 2014. He also sings the role of Osmin on the company’s recording of Mozart’s Zaide (2016) and Colas on its recording of Bastien und Bastienne (2018). His operatic roles have included Leporello (Don Giovanni), Donner (The Rheingold), Speaker (The Magic Flute), Mr. Flint (Billy Budd) and Hobson (Peter Grimes) all with English National Opera, Kothner (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) with Chicago Lyric Opera, and Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor) for New Israeli Opera. Darren has received two Grammy awards for his contribution to recordings of Falstaff and Billy Budd with the London Symphony Orchestra. Additional recordings include the London Symphony Orchestra’s Fidelio, Benvenuto Cellini and Mozart’s Requiem, and Garsington Opera’s Maometto Secondo, on which he sings the title role.
