Mozart’s Czech Mates

Our season ends at Wigmore Hall with a concert exploring Mozart’s links and friendships with a number of outstanding Bohemian composers who settled in Vienna at the same time as him. The programme is framed by dramatic G minor symphonies by Vanhal and Kozeluch, and also features arias by Gluck (the hauntingly beautiful Se mai senti spirarti sul volto from his La clemenza di Tito, which students complained broke all the rules of harmony), Mysliveček and Mozart himself, as well as a scene from Benda’s astonishing melodrama Medea. The soloist is again Chiara Skerath.
