Mozart et Haydn à Londres
28 June 2022 – La Seine Musicale, Paris, 8.30pm
We are delighted to have been invited to make our Paris début at the spectacular auditorium La Seine Musicale – one of Paris’ newest concert halls, built on an island on the River Seine – in a programme of works linked to London. The programme begins with a Mozart symphony that was composed during the composer’s childhood visit to London in the 1760s (it was long considered lost until its rediscovery in 1981), and ends with one of the greatest of Haydn’s symphonies composed for his second visit to the English capital in the 1790s. In between, the exciting young Swiss-Belgian soprano Chiara Skerath – an Associate Artist of The Mozartists and herself a resident of Paris – sings an exquisite aria by the ‘London’ Bach for which Mozart wrote his own set of embellishments, and Haydn’s fiercely dramatic Scena di Berenice.
This concert was originally scheduled to take place in June 2020 but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mozart | Symphony in F major, K.19a |
J.C. Bach | “Cara la dolce fiamma” from Adriano in Siria |
Haydn | Scena di Berenice |
Haydn | Symphony No. 99 in E flat major |
Concert ends c.10pm.
Tickets €10-45.
